LaRhonda guided students through best practices in networking, including identifying key connections, effectively reaching out to potential mentors, and maintaining relationships that can open doors to career opportunities. IEEE-Atlanta hosted a Family STEM Night at Ashford Park Elementary School in Atlanta, where students and families immersed themselves in hands-on STEM activities that brought science and technology to life. The event sparked curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM among elementary schoolers, with 15 dedicated volunteers guiding 12 interactive activities that inspired young minds and fostered a love for STEM.

IEEE-Atlanta 140th Anniversary Celebration 

IEEE-Atlanta celebrated its 140th anniversary in style, gathering members and supporters for an evening of networking, food, and festivities. The event also marked IEEE-Atlanta’s recent honor of receiving the MGA Outstanding Section award, recognizing its exceptional achievements and contributions.

The celebration was filled with camaraderie, memorable moments, and some delightful surprises, making it a milestone event for the section.

Ronald E. McNair Middle School's Family STEM Night October 29, 2024

IEEE-Atlanta hosted an engaging Family STEM Night at McNair Middle School in Decatur, where students and families participated in hands-on STEM activities that brought science and technology to life. The event successfully sparked curiosity and STEM interest among middle schoolers, with positive feedback from participants who valued the chance to learn and explore together.

The IEEE ComSoc School Series Program is designed exclusively for IEEE ComSoc Student Members. Programs for these events consist of lectures by world leading professors, industry leaders, and executives. Each event features a highly interactive classroom environment with an intense focus on learning the cutting-edge trends in communications technology.

SoutheastCon 2024

IEEE-Atlanta hosted SoutheastCon 2024 from March 21-24, 2024 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza.  Over 700 attendees participated in the conference, from student competitions, a technical program, workshops, and leadership development opportunities, the conference was enjoyed by all who attended.

Melody Richardson wins 2023 IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Pre-University Education

Melody Richardson received the EAB award for her dedication and leadership in K-12 STEM education and sustained community outreach initiatives such as Family Science Nights and STEM on the MOVE.
The Meritorious Achievement Award in Pre-University Education recognizes individuals for work in a pre-university school, or those that influence school-based activities for pre-university students. These individuals have inspired an appreciation and understanding of Mathematics, Science and Technology and the engineering process in pre-university students, and have encouraged students to pursue technical careers.
