IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE’s highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.
The Atlanta Section was formed on January 19, 1904. The Section encompasses the northern 1/3 of the state of Georgia. It consists of 12 technical society chapters and 3 affinity groups. The Atlanta Section boasts over 5000 active members. Members include professionals, students, graduate students, and retirees. IEEE, pronounced “Eye-triple-E,” stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. IEEE is an organization qualified under Internal Revenue Code 501c3 and donors are eligible to make tax-deductible contributions as provided in section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
We are part of Region 3 – the geographic area of IEEE which covers the southeastern United States plus Jamaica.
